ONE-DAY TOURING PLAN FOR ADULTS AT DISNEYLAND
FOR: Adults without small children.
ASSUMES: Willingness to experience all major rides
(including roller coaster) and shows.
Be forewarned that this plan requires a lot of walking and
some backtracking; this necessary to avoid long waits in
line. A little extra walking coupled with some hustle in the
morning will save you from two to three hours of standing in
line. Note also that you might not complete the tour. How
far you get will depend on the size of your group, how
quickly you move from ride to ride, how many times you pause
for rest or food, how quickly the park fills, and what tie
the park closes. With a little zip and some luck, it is
possible to complete the Touring Plan even on a busy day
when the park closes early.
NOTE: The success of the Touring Plan hinges on your
entering the park when it first opens. Do not use this Plan
when Magic Morning is in effect unless you have Magic
Morning early entry privileges. If you are not eligible for
Magic Morning, use this Plan on a day when Magic Morning is
not in effect.
1. Arrive 30 - 40 minutes before the official opening time
and purchase your admission, if necessary.
2. Line up in front of Gate 11, 12, or 13 (during busy
periods of the year) or in front of any entrance gate
with a short line.
3. When you are admitted to the park, move posthaste to
the far end of Main Street. If there is no rope
barrier, continue quickly and without stopping as fast
as your feet will carry you to Adventureland which is
on the left side of the central hub, ride Indiana
Jones.
4. Bear right on exiting Indiana Jones and head for
Tomorrowland and ride Space Mountain.
5. Bear left on exiting Space Mountain and ride Star
Tours.
6. After exiting Indiana Jones, turn left through
Adventureland and New Orleans Square without stopping
and head for Critter Country. In Critter Country, ride
Splash Mountain. If the line looks long, be consoled by
the fact that it will only get longer as the day wears
on. Bite the bullet.
7. After you ride Splash Mountain, leave Critter Country
and return to Adventureland. Ride the Jungle Cruise. If
you are a Disneyland veteran and wish to bypass the
Jungle Cruise, skip ahead to Step 8.
8. Go to Fantasyland via the central hub and the walkway
leading directly to the Matterhorn Mountain. As you
pass alongside the Matterhorn, turn left into
Fantasyland and ride Alice in Wonderland. Option: If
you are a roller coaster enthusiast, substitute the
Matterhorn Bobsleds for Alice in Wonderland.
9. After you ride Alice in Wonderland, exit left past Mr.
Toad's Wild Ride to Peter Pan's Flight. Ride Peter
Pan's Flight.
10. Exit Peter Pan's Flight to the left and ride Snow
White's Scary Adventures.
11. Exit to the left and ride Pinocchio's Daring Journey.
12. Again, exit to the left; leave Fantasyland and take the
walkway to Frontierland. In Frontierland, ride the Big
Thunder Mountain Railroad.
NOTE: This is about as far as you go on a busy day
before the crowds catch up with you, but you will have
experienced ten of the more popular rides and shows and
you will have cleared most of Disneyland's major
traffic bottlenecks. Note also that you are doing a
considerable amount of walking and some backtracking.
Do not be dismayed; the extra walking will save you as
much as two hours standing in line. Remember, during
the morning (through Step 12) keep moving. In the
afternoon, adjust the pace to your liking.
13. Proceed to New Orleans Square via the Frontierland
waterfront and ride Pirates of the Caribbean. The line
here will be long but will move quickly.
14. Turning left as you exit, pass the train station and
experience the Haunted Mansion. This line will also
look worse than it actually is.
15. Exit to the left, return to Critter Country passing
Splash Mountain, and see a show at the Country Bear
Playhouse.
16. If you are hungry, try the Barbecue at Festival of
Foods just behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad on the
path back to Fantasyland or Casa Mexicana, located in
Frontierland across from the entrance to the Big
Thunder Mountain Railroad.
17. In Frontierland, ride the Mark Twain Steamboat or the
Sailing Ship Columbia (whichever departs first).
18. Proceed to the Frontierland/New Orleans Square Station
and catch the Disneyland Railroad. Ride the train all
the way around the park once, and then stay on for one
additional stop: disembark at the Fantasyland/Toontown
Station.
19. In Fantasyland, ride It's a Small World.
20. Turn right after exiting It's a Small World and visit
Mickey's Toontown. Ride Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.
This will probably be your longest wait of the day. Be
sure to read the description of this ride. If your
party is all adults, you may want to blow this off.
21. Leave Mickey's Toontown and Fantasyland via the path
between the Matterhorn and the Submarine Voyage and
return to Tomorrowland. If a performance of Captain EO
(Honey I Shrunk the Audience opens Spring 1998) is
within 15 minutes of beginning (ask the Disney
attendant), stay and see the show. If showtime is not
within 15 minutes ride the Submarine Voyage.
22. After Captain EO, exit left and shop for your Disney
souvenirs in the Star Trader or check out the SEGA R360
flight simulator at Starcade.
23. Leave Tomorrowland via the central hub and return to
Adventureland. Experience the Enchanted Tiki Room.
24. Exit to the left and tour the Swiss Family Treehouse.
25. If you have some time left before closing, backtrack to
pick up attractions you may have missed or bypassed
because the lines were too long. Check out any parades,
fireworks, or live performances that interest you. Grab
a bite to eat. Save Main Street until last since it
remains open after the rest of park closes.
26. Continue to tour until everything closes except Main
Street or your are ready to go. Finish your day by
browsing along Main Street and viewing The Walt Disney
Story, featuring "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln."
27. You just finished your One-Day Tour of Disneyland "The
Happiest Place on Earth."
