subject: Chronograph Error

Can anyone share advice on expected error from a chronograph?
I just bought one and have been testing loads from my 32 special, K Hornet
and 303 British.

My 32 special is reading under 2100 fps. using Imperial ammunition and 2190
with Winchester. My reloads are clocking around 2150. That seems pretty slow
to me.

My K Hornet is clocking between 2750 and 2850 with a lot of range. I am
using 11.75 gr. of W296.

My 303 is clocking around 2750 with a 150gr. bullet ahead of 45 gr. of Excel
Cr18. The variation is pretty good with it.

I tested some of the hyper velocity remington 22 bullets which claim around
1500 fps. I thought they would make a good comparison to check the accuracy
of the chronograph. They read around 1220 to 1250.

I am a little confused. I was expecting over 2200 out of the 32 special. I
am happy with the 303 but worried about the variation in the K Hornet.

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.
