subject: AMPEX RECORDERS

Hi Bonnie...
BG> Sure you can pitch your recorders here. I'm an AMPEX fan, too, still
BG> have an MM1000 16 track. Whatcha got?
I see you live in Sacra-Tomato! Dr. Don Rose used to call it
that. I worked for KFRC at one time. Worked with Don for awhile. San
Francisco being my home town. On with the business at hand.
Thanks so much for the quick reply. Well it's a tough one but I
think I'm ready to unload my (maybe not to others) prizes. I have
3 Ampex 600 series machines. You know, the ones in the Samsonite
cases? I have one Ampex 601-2 (circa 1962) and 2 Ampex 602-2
(Circa 1964) I have one manual for the 602-2's and the original
manual for the 601-2. They all work. They'll need some oiling and
maybe some new tubes (I'm sure a some heads wouldn't hurt) but
that's about it. I'm sure some aligning and adjusting as well.
Before I go putting my foot in my mouth (as I have a price in mind
for all three or individually) what do you or anyone else in this
echo think I can fetch for those puppies?
Thanks!
Steve
