subject: testing network cards

I've got a *pile* of assorted network cards, and need to figure out some way
to test them out. No docs on most of them, either, unfortunately...
Right now my test fixture is a 286/12 with OpenDOS installed including the
networking stuff, which I guess is about the same as Personal Netware, but
I can't get that setup to recognize *any* of the cards so far.
I'll be glad to post details regarding the cards, numbers on them, config
options and such, if anyone wants that info or thinks it would help some.
I'm open to suggestions as to what I might try here, both for software and
for help in figuring out the hardware.
What's a good i/o address to choose? Interrupt? Anything else?
