Compared to one big needle of the same diameter as the collective
diameters, yes, but you're still having your skin PIERCED.  The
phenomenon you're referring to is how you can lie on a bed of needles
without getting pierced, because of the congregate spread of pressure
over them all -- in that case you're NOT being pierced. . .
