However, when I see mediocre software, I tend to note its problems. The problems with Outlook that I've mentioned here (and the problems with MS Word and MS Excel that I've mentioned earlier) are a lot more pronounced to me because I was recently upgraded from Office '97 to Office 2003. Office '97 worked well for me. I have posted here more than once that MS Excel '97 was one of my all-time favorite applications. I can now understand why users are so reluctant to move to the newer versions of MS Office --- in more than a few areas, it is a step backwards in the ease with which I can do my job. And the screen-cluttering eye-candy of the recent MS Office apps is downright annoying. And it is not just me. Our Accounting department was on MS Office '98 for the MAC. When they were upgraded to the latest version of MS Office for the MAC, they also noticed a *drastic* slowdown in the performance of MS Excel. As I mentioned, this is the accounting department. They are less than pleased that they paid for an upgrade that was a regression in performance. Needless to say, our CFO is not going to look kindly upon future MS app upgrades.... /m --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 106/2000 633/267 |
