Just some thoughts to consider when teaching your bird to talk...
Don't ever, never, ever, teach him to say YOUR name! Not only does this
Quaker Parakeet hang on his cage door and call for me ... but the other day
was the icing on the cake!
I came home from the grocery store to find the police at my door. I though
that someone had complained about the noisy birds .. no. They had a call
regarding someone "screaming" and yelling for "Mike". I had to let the cops
look through my whole apartment before they were satisfied that there was no
foul-play going on. It wasn't until they heard this bird scream for "Mike"
did they really relax.
Taz (the Quaker) is really something else. I have had birds that developed a
personality -- but this guy is really a character. I can take him outside on
my shoulder, the other day I took him to the pet shop (riding on my
shoulder). Now, if I can just get him potty trained! (:
