RW> Yes. You know that one of the possible consequences of using
RW> marijuana is being arrested yet you still CHOOSE to use it therefore
RB> Your logic is circular at the very least and irrelevant at
RB> best. I have a choice to take the risk; I do not have the
RB> choice if I get arrested.
You can choose to either continue doing what you are
doing and maybe get arrested or you can choose to stop
doing what you are doing and remain free.
Therefore you DO have the choice whether you get
arrested.
RW> People (black and white) made choices, HARD CHOICES, choices that I
RW> don't think YOU would make to change things. And yes some people
RW> chose to just continue to ride in the back of the bus and drink at
RW> the colored water fountain. That was their choice
RB> guess, at home, cursing the *radicals* that were destroying
RB> this country, just like you are doing today, when you
Depends on your definition of 'radical'. The people
who wanted nothing more then what any human deserves
and who used legal means to reach that goal were not
radicals. Those who went out side the law, yes they
were radical.
You want to chance something you have two choices
(there's that word again). You can do it within the
system and law or you can do it outside both.
If you choose to do something illegal you should be
ready to pay the price when you get caught not whine
like a three year old about how its not fair.
If I thought it was wrong for people to smoke pot and
thought the way to stop these people was to find them
and beat them even more senseless than they already
are. Is that radical? Don't I have as much right as
you to break the law to advance my cause? If I get
caught should I just whine that its not fair because
pot is illegal? Stupid isn't it? But isn't that what
you are doing with your pot?
RB> of them. But what were you doing then? And WHAT ARE YOU
RB> DOING NOW? I wasn't alive in the 1960s, but I have probably
A lot more then you I bet! How much money have you
given to any charitable organization? How much time do
you spend a week helping the downtrodden people you
see? When was the last time you went to a town
meeting? When was the last time you worked for a
candidate? I could go on and on and on but you would
probably just say "I don't have the money", "I don't
have the time.". I know what the word SACRIFICE means.
RB> been a part of more actions and demos against racism and
RB> classism than
RB> you have in your entire life.
OOOOOOOO demonstrations. . .each one taking . . .what
two hours? And what did all of these demos get
accomplished? Maybe. . . NOTHING! Mean while I have
been spending my time pestering lawmakers and trying to
help people. Not blocking traffic, yelling and
carrying a sign for a couple of hours and then going
home and patting myself on the back while telling
myself what a good boy I am.
No I don't "demo". 99.9% of them are nothing but a
waste of time and effort. Most of them make more
enemies then friends because of how they disturb the
day to day life of people. Go to a park the day after
a big "demo", look at it and try to remember what it
looked like before.
You scream about classism but I bet during these
"demos" you took the time to yell at the working class
guys wearing the police uniforms.
RB> Its interesting ... everyone supports civil disobedience to
RB> combat racism THEN.
Not me. I think it was nothing more the grand standing
for the most part. Most of it was done for the
cameras. None of them change a single law.
RB> No one wants to face the fact that its still here, and
RB> probably worse in many ways.
And it will always be. There will always be some body
who hates someone else just because of the way they
look.
