 it's some sort of hybrid.. analoue displays are like the old display I've
 seen on water meters and power (kWh) meters long obsolete now) that used a
 little clock-hand like pointer for each digit (each hand had its own own
 circle so to read them you had to check the next digit to see if it was an
 almost... The main visible difference between 7.9 and 8.1 was the
 direction the tenths pointer points...  and what's worse every even
 numbered hand turns backwards.

they were tricky to read...
