Hi,
As some of you may have gathered, I am assuming the moderatorship of the
ARMED echo effective at midnight tonight. Mike will be the co-moderator until
he sees fit to change that situation.
I believe in something that Mike told me about moderating an echo. "He who
moderates least, moderates best", and I intend to follow that guideline.
Still, so that one might know when they would be headed for trouble, I do
have a few short and sweet rule that will assist in the event of rowdiness.
1) Real names only.
2) Stay on topic. Blatant attempts to get back on topic are acceptable too.
They provide humor, and tend to lighten up the proceedings.
3) The bedrock of civilization is civility, so be civil.
4) Be prepared to back up you contentions with cites, also support your
fellow participants with facts when you know and they don't.
5) If needs be e-mail me @ jackson.dryden@nashville.com if you have a
question of topicality or moderation.
Until the participation levels here get back up to where I feel happy with
them. I will try to post something every night. I hope that something I say
might pique your interest enough to post a reply. I will
try to avoid posting mindless drivel, but I will need you to provide a
sounding board of solid comments and arguements. This country was founded on
the notion that the fire of public debate makes for a stronger society, so
let's have some.
I have heard scetchy reports of two instances where armed law abiding
citizens (ALAC's) defended themselves successfully. The first involved a
convenience store clerk that shot *two* armed robbers in a gun battle when
they attempted to rob his store. The second involved a successful defense of
self and home in a home invasion situation. This last was in Nashville, but
I'm not sure where the first occurred. If anyone has heard anything more, I
would appreciate hearing it here. The score was three perps dead, and no one
else injured.
Welcome to ARMED
jackson
