-> There is an active underground on this laserdisc. The actual story
-> is that when the disc was released in Japan, Japanese Victor (JVC)
-> did the mastering without authorization of Disney of America. When
-> Disney of America discovered the disk was playable on multi-standard
-> laserdisc players here domestically, they ordered production shut
-> down, and what remained of store inventory stocks returned. The
-> actual window of time the
-> disc was freely available was about 3 weeks. Enough copies made it t
-> import that there are still some copies around, but they are expensiv
-> are getting more rare every day.
I would like to know where such a story comes from. I don't tend to
believe it because everyone I know that wanted a SOTS LD have been able
to get it for around what I paid ($70). Also, Disney must have known
that all LD players would be able to play the Japanese disks. Like I
said, I am skepitcal about this one.
I just wish they would release it normal here in the states. In fact, if
they put out a collector's edition with extra material and letterboxed
it I would consider buying SOTS again. I like special versions of
things.
