Actually, neither milk nor blood is yuck, although milk should be treated
with lactase enzyme to avoid problems with lactose intolerance, and human
blood tends to be a high-risk food.

Our immune systems have grown lax with the advent and abuse of
disinfectants and antibiotics, as well as fewer people living around
animals.

Just something as simple as the practice of giving a birthing woman an
enema prior to entering labor has a major effect. Before this practice was
started, the massive effort of pushing out a child would also cause
defecation, and the baby would land in the feces, immediately seeding it
with a rich flora of bacteria, and getting its digestive system off to a
good start.

Today, we occasionally need to add these bacteria later, due to the
extremely sterile nature of our surroundings. Don't know about you, but I
find the idea of someone giving birth onto feces less disgusting than later
introducing the same parent's feces orally or anally.. talk about yuck.

sincerely,
marius
