Why in the world didn't someone offer them a weapon in
a real caliber? A HK 91 firing a 7.62 mm bullet would
have had a much better chance than an AR-15 firing a
5.56 mm one. I don't know of any face shield that will
hold up to a couple of 7.62's.
And a scoped 300 Win Mag would have been even better.
Heck, a good rifled slug gun with sabot slugs would
have been better then an AR-15. IMNSHO of course. But
I've never been a fan of using a varmint round on
dangerous game.
I'm willing to bet that the officers never even thought
of another weapon. Most of them probably have bought
into the clap of how dangerous the M-16/AR-15 firing
its "powerful military round" is.
