Buy acrobat, set it up on the server so it's watching a /makepdf directory,
in that directory are two more directories called /in and /out. They print
a postscript file to the /in directory and like magic acrobat converts it
to pdf and puts both the ps and pdf files into /out where the users can get
them and do whatever they like with them.

It's easier than installing a freeware pdf printer on each workstation.
