KA> Please cite some of that "misinformation", and the subsequent
KA> information debunking it.
In the article I downloaded from NIMH, it cites several forms of therapy that
they class as useless. We have been using them for years in the treatment of
chemically addicted individuals and their family members. Nutritional
therapy has been known, for instance, to more than double the chances of
recovery in addiction with genetic alcoholics.
For more information on that, I refer you to two recognized experts, Dr.
James Milam of the Milam Recovery Program in Seattle at 12845 Ambaum Blvd.
S.W., 98146 who has been called the father of modern treatment for alcoholism
by those in both Washington and Alaska who understand what he says, and also
Dr. Charles Bates of the Thurston/Mason Community Mental Health Center, 112
East State Street, Olympia WA 98501.
They have both written books, especially Dr. Milam, debunking long held
theories in mental health.
KA> The second place you're thinking of is probably NIMH.
Nope. That is where the article came from that Mark thinks so highly about.
I have found one reference at the end of that I trust and will get back to
you after I call it today.
KA> You can't seem to say anything for certainty, especially since you
KA> can't seem to cite any reputable studies.
Lady, I have tons of reputable studies around here which date back several
years. The problem is that some of the lousier mental health workers
wouldn't recognize them as such if they were made to ingest them or otherwise
be in close contact with them.
Their training precludes any acknowledgement of anything said by anyone
outside of their own tight little circle. Became aware of this as a student
nurse at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington D.C. when a brilliant
psychiatrist was debunking the current theories of the day. He taught me to
question everything I have heard since.
KA> Clearly not very frequently if you can't remember NIMH.
Oh I can remember it, just don't accept everything it says as gospel when I
know that it is wrong most of the time when it doesn't take into
consideration variences in humans.
For instance, in that same article, in the diagnostic workup described, there
is NO HISTORY Of ADDICTION MENTIONED at all, yet a causitive agent is. Both
alcohol and cocaine are clearly defined as possible causes in prenatal life.
SO TELL ME WHY ISN"T THIS KIND OF HISTORY OBTAINED?
And, that sort of history does not belong in school files, ever. The Federal
laws of confidentiality on drug and alcohol records would preclude that.
So, since none of these children are routinely seen by anyone who is
qualified to do the kind of family assessment that I have been taught to do,
that others like me are taught to do, I say that the results of all of the
testing, all of the studies are flawed from the start.
And don't tell me that psychiatrists and psychologists are qualified in
chemical dependency. I've sat in too many classes with those who are going
for the same kind of education I've had to know better. Unless they have
taken the same courses and have obtained the same credentials, they are not.
KA> This is true. Which is why these institutions report the findings
KA> from research, not vague extrapolations gleaned from anecdotal
KA> evidence posted on web sites by multi-level-marketers.
THAT RESEARCH IS FLAWED FROM THE START IF IT DOESN'T INCLUDE INFORMATION ON
CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY.
KA> JK> MP> Do you even know what NIH is? Do you have the slightest idea
ow
KA> JK> MP> someone is appointed to the staff?
KA> JK> The entire system of "mental health" is a pyramid of insanity it
KA> itself at
KA> JK> times. And appointment by one idiot for another idiot doesn't mean
KA> sicum i
KA> JK> both idiots are coming from a premise that doesn't hold water.
KA> In a word, no, she doesn't know.
Oh but I do know. And have known for some time. Ever hear of St. Elizabeths
Hospital? It is a federal institution in Washington, D.C. where psychodrama,
among other things, was developed years ago.
I was aware of the differences in the good and the bad psychiatrists and
mental health workers when I was there and have been aware of them ever
nce.
