That might make those a little more difficult to convert. But
you never know.

 And since they used pretty standard chips for the fm circuits, if
you don't mind a modified or a totally different case, there's all
sorts of options you can do as well. S-meter, variable agc/avc and
squelch. Just depends on what's inside the thing.
