Terry May was seen kissing Large Marge and telling us:

That might be a nice theory except that the team was well attended, even 
during their worst years (The Expos were a damn sight better in attendance 
than the Braves). Management had NO excuse, they lost the fans before these 
last couple of years when they kept letting their free agents go rather than 
hold on to them. The recent apathy is the result of a lot more than just a 
year or two of bad attendance. The Expos got a lot more than they deserved 
when it came to fan support.
