Despite derogatory messages about Radio Shach you may have seen
or may in the future see by some, I rate both 2 meter rigs and the
70cm HT as very good buys for the money. My HTX-202 has taken a
lickin' since Fall '93 and keeps on tickin' ..a friend acquired the
mobile rig a month before its official introduction, has given it
daily abuse by switching from personal vehicle to work vehicle and
back, bouncing on the floorboard, etc and the radio keeps performing.
I'm about to acquire the 440 HT and expect no problems.

BTW, after acquiring your HT(s) you can purchase for $19.95 from
Battery-Tech or W&W Associates a battery pack (accepts 8 AA alkalyn
or ni-cad) and has a built-in charge function -- you supply the
wall wart.. and this will give you 12vdc input for a true 5 watt
 output.
