On 16 Apr 98, concerning _Gameboy_, Nick Andre said to Troy H. Cheek in

An Atari Portfolio, to be specific.
NA> I'm sure the Gameboy can be modified with a plastic card extention,

6502 was my first assembly language. I learned on the Atari 800, though I
did put in some time with an Apple IIe and a Commodore 64. 6502 _is_
flexible, though I'm not sure it can hack an ATM, simply because I'm not sure
that you can hack an ATM with anything remotely like the setup seen in that
movie.
However, I have read that EPROMs can be burned which will give the Gameboy
the equivalent of a BASIC language, and then programs can be written to cards
which whill allow you to create and play your own games. Further
modifications along the lines you mention can have the Gameboy being the
"brains" of various types of homemade robots.
... What astronomers see is out of this world!
