Jane Kelley (On 20 Mar 98) said this..? to MARK PROBERT
 Hello Jane:
I've not been active here for a week or so. Other more interesting
things to do. Seems like you haven't changed your tune by as much as
 a note.
 Re: Zametkin/NIH
JK>MP> Recently, a team led by him found
JK>MP> that the same area is proportionately smaller in the ADHD brain.
JK> Haven't found that one, have seen other "studies" coming from that
JK> same source in the past that are very much open to debate.
All studies are 'open to debate' until they are replicated by others.
 Your comment begs the obvious.
JK> And which have long since been outdated by other research.
 Such as...?
JK> And your usual rebuttal to anything said that doesn't agree with what
JK> you think. The mere fact that ALL CHILDREN will react the same way
 JK> when given Ritalin
Cite chapter and verse Jane that supports that "fact"
JK> In fact, those kids who have no signs of ADHD and are plain and simply
JK> bored stiff in school would also behave like little angels on the
 JK> stuff!
My you were just full of facts. Cite chapter and verse to support
 that "fact".
MP> JK> MP> PET scans have shown that there are areas in the brain that are
MP> JK> MP> underactive and when MPH is administered, they return to the
norma
 MP> JK> MP> level of functioning.
JK> Why? Has anyone bothered to find out how many so called "normal"
JK> people have this same area in the brain?
Your lack of reading comprehension skills is simply astounding. Your
knowledge of brain anatomy also appears to be similarly lacking.
JK> What does happen to control subjects who are not diagnosed as ADD or
JK> ADHD when given the same doses for the same length of time?
 Nothing.
JK> AND WOULD A REMEDIAL DIET DO THE SAME THING AS THE DRUG?
 No it would not.
JK> If we have done scans and we do not find any big difference in the
JK> brains of those who have ADD and ADHD, then it is not genetic.
Reading comprehension again Jane. There have been differences found.
PET scans and MRIs do not, are not intended to, detect genetic
 anomalies.
JK> Why do normal children given the same drug also behave like little
JK> robots or zombies in class?
 Jeez..Jane above you said:
JK> In fact, those kids who have no signs of ADHD and are plain and simply
JK> bored stiff in school would also behave like little angels on the
 JK> stuff!
You can't even keep yourself straight in the same post. At risk of
being thought redundant cite chapter and verse to support that MPH
makes "robots or zombies" out of "normal" children - or children with
 ADD/ADHD.
JK> And is that the intention of those who are
JK> insisting that the kids be medicated in the first place?
You are the one insisting that "others" are insisting that these
children be medicated. You have no, NO, experience of the disorder.
You, therefore, have no >NO< knowledge of what the parents of these
children go through before arriving at a decision to try medications.
If it wasn't so patently obvious that you don't have the slightest
inkling of what you are talking about I'd consider you to be a
 potentially dangerous individual.
