DM> I hate sega.
Any explanation behind that, or is just because you're USED to Sony and/or
Nintendo by now?
DM> Well It was a good one. It was the game that they left on at the
DM> stores so you could demo it. You know...
What's this I hear? I thought you HATED Sega! With this and the Panzer
Dragoon thing, I think you're being a bit hypocritical.
DM> That's exactly waht I meant. Each game has ONE little improvemnet of
DM> it's own. But there since fighters came out the biggest new feature
DM> was the FATALITY! You could say 3D, But they don't oplay in 3D, they
DM> just look 3D.
Where's this "little" part in the games I mentioned? You use two joysticks
in tandem to control Virtual On, you're not "locked" into facing your
opponent, and in general the gameplay style is much different. In Bushido
Blade there is a FUNDAMENTAL gameplay change that results from the deadliness
of the weaponry; it's a defensive game, not an offensive one, and success
usually comes from not getting hit at all.
DM> Like in MACE, the background is sort of interactive. But it happens
DM> once in a blue moon. And it doesn't affect the gameplay. I'm not
issing
DM> them or anything.
DM> But look at it this way, ANd Look at capcom.
DM> Q: What is there new game?
DM> Street Fighter 3, street fighter meets X-men ultra turbo to the tenth
DM> power? What is so different from regular good old Street Fighter two.
DM> A: Souped up graphics and a few different combo moves. Ryu will never
DM> grow up. Oh yeah! Sorry. You can't forget the differnet ending.
THAT is a problem. While Capcom seems to be moving away from 2D fighters
at last, their heritage has largely been incremental upgrades to the same
engine. Their 3D games, at least the newer ones (such as SF Ex Plus Alpha)
seem to have a slightly different gameplay style (as well as, of course, a
different look & feel).
