Have you seen the recent threads on the security lists about web servers
being compromised and used by spammers? That's not happening via browser
exploit or social engineering. It's PHP worms and Windows worms, fully
automated, new version every week.

And you're right you don't need scripting or even exe, you could just code
everything in asm but scripting and c or c++ tend to make things easier.

The more capabilities, the more tools virus writers have to work with.
(just like admins like more capabilities because it makes it easier)
