Hello,
Our son is raised so our household consists of 3 cockatiels (very
spoiled), and 4 finches, and 4 cats. We started out with two finches who
laid eggs. Silly us thought they didn't seem to know what they were doing so
we let them keep their eggs. Boy were we surprised by the appearance of two
fuzzy little heads. Our cockatiels take a shower with us a couple of times a
week. I really don't know how often a bath is recommended. Our birds have
the run of the den during the day (we are in the process of getting a large
avairy for the living room so we can have the den back). Then at night, the
cats are put up in the bedroom for an hour or two, or so, and the birds have
the run of the house. Sometimes they eat with us, sometimes they shower with
us, and sometimes they just do their best to get into everything possible.
Our oldest cockatiel is a little over 4 and is very smart. When he won't go
to his cage at bedtime, my husband will get the net out and threaten him with
it, and off he goes to his cage. He loves to listen to, and whistle, the
Andy Griffity theme song. He heard it once on America's Funniest Home
Videos, and learned it all. Well, it's nice to meet a bird person.
