 Hi David....and Den ,

R:Base? Alpha? Are they still around? I haven't heard anything about R:Base
in almost 4 or 5 years. As for Alpha, I think Alpha is still around. A
riend
of mine got an offer in the mail for Alpha 5 Win a while back ago but
didn't go for it. A few years ago, my wife's MD _himself_ did his _whole_
medical clinic (he's got it doing everything!) using a network version of
Alpha 4 V2 DOS. He showed it to me and I was amazed at what he did with it
with no programming. He was an accomplished dBase III+ user, but discovered
Alpha and never bothered with anything else.
In a FoxPro Chat on the M$ FoxPro Site someone gave away VFP 3 and Mastering
VFP 3 free to the 1st one who asked. He (or his company) was switching to
Access 97 from VFP 3. I was curious about the switch so I inquired. He
wouldn't say why, but he advised me to stick with VFP 5 and it's "horrendous
learning curve because one day - poof - it'll all come together". Judging
from that answer, I got the impression that the switch wasn't his idea.
Oh well, back to the grind....where's my list of swear words .
