Hello!
I've been browsing here for the past week or so, and thought I should
introduce myself, and my birds.
I'm a thirty year old mother of three, although my children are presently
living with their father. I go to school part-time during the week, and will
be starting a part-time waitressing job this weekend, to help make ends meet
until I graduate.
Presently, I have a cockatiel (regular) and a blue budgie, both living in the
same cage. I've had Leroy Brown (the 'tiel) for about 6 months now, and just
got Bunny (the budgie) about three weeks ago. I've had a lot of experience
breeding Zebra finches in the past, but apart from that, not much practical
experience, although I do read a lot.
My boyfriend has a three month old hand-fed Cinnamon Pearl cockatiel named
Ozzy.
I'm planning on getting a hand-fed love bird in a couple of weeks. I have
books on lovebirds, so feel that I am fairly well prepared for this. I feed
all my birds Hagen Tropican pellets, with the occasional fresh veggie/fruit,
and some home-made soft-food mixture (oatmeal, macaroni, baby cereal...), and
some spray millet as a special treat.
The birds get a spray bath every third day or so. Is that sufficient, or is
it too much? Any helpful hints in welcomming a lovebird in my home? (it will
be just weaned, so it can bond to me easier).
Eventualy, I'd love to get an Elenora Cockatoo. I've been playing with
one at a local petshop, and am in absolute love with him.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Chris
