JP> What kind of work do you do ?? Much to engines ??
I try not to. I do machine heads for the guy across the parking lot. Mainly
because we trade labor...I machine his stuff and he takes care of my
cars...That way, I don't get greasy.
I've got a 400 Pontiac block with a 455 crank in it. Although, I had a real
automotive machine shop do the work. To my specs. The crank has the main
journals turned down to fit the 400 block. Had to weld up and turn the
thrust main to fit the 400, which isn't as wide as the 455. Had the crank
re-heat treated, ground and polished. Had the block decked after I measured
it for deck height and found it way off. It's now got .020 deck height on
all 8 pistons. It's waiting for the day I get time to finish putting it
together. Needs everything besides crank, rods and pistons.
JP> Hell, I may send you the rear end out of the Prix. I need the pass.
JP> tube removed, an inch cut off, and re-welded. (Ford 9 inch)
I could do the machine work, but I'd farm out the welding. Sold my TIG
welder a few months ago, with the intention of buying a MIG, but decided to
forego that. Can't weld worth a damn anyway.
... It all hinges on your definition of "a good time".
