subject: Help!

Hi,
Does anyone out there have the instructions for making the shape with points
on both ends used to cover a ball? I know it should be cut on the bias.
The balls are 5 1/2" in diameter, clear plastic. They need to be covered
completely because they are cracked. Trying to salvage some that were given
to me.
Would like to use at least 6 pieces instead of the usual 4 that are normally
used because the ball is so big. Right now, the idea is to use satins, laces
and velvets with assorted braids.
I sorta have in mind to do a crazy quilt effect as the finished product and
it would be so much easier to have a basic pattern to cut apart and work
om.
Also have a few decopage type themes floating around.
Thanks for your help.
