Yes it does have a lot of new capabilities, and it's being used by
microsoft to do things like check for drm updates and all sorts of outbound
communications that I really don't want my computer doing.

As for a backup, come now, it's not like I've never installed windows before
.

Geo. (my 2 month test is over, if I trash the install I'm ready to move on
