There's the "openly disabled" then there are the TABs ("Temporarily
Able-Bodied")

I like the anecdote a friend shared with me a number of years ago:

She was sitting having a smoke in the mall(when such was allowed) and
saw a YOUNG girl in a wheelchair, who had no hands or feet; her heart
went out, of course, and it must have showed on her face, cuz the girl
wheels herself around, comes straight up face-on to Heather and says,
"Don't you DARE feel sorry for me!  I know my handicap -- what's YOURS?"

Now, Heather could've gotten all offended, but chose, instead, to think
on that, and realize that the girl made a good point!
