I don't agree, you don't want the program's startup behavior to change
because that causes people to panic. For example NTmail when a mailbox gets
90% full sends you an email saying "your mailbox is 90% full" and
everyone panics and has to contact postmaster to know why they are getting
this annoying message now. For a mailbox that's not using imap I can
understand why it has to be done that way but if you are presenting users
with folders then just show %full or actual size as a number somewhere in
the folder view much like file size is shown in explorer.
You just need the information there in front of them all the time, sooner
or later they will notice it and not panic since it's been there all the
time.
