On (10 Mar 05) James Bradley wrote to George Pope... JB> GP> I'm in Richmond, BC, Canada, living with my cat. JB> JB> A suburb of greater metro Vancouver? As you'll see in the tear, Cal. JB> Alta. Yes, just south of Vancouver, on a delta, home of Vancouver International Airport. What's "Cal. Alta."? California Alberta? JB> Suspected Fibroid Neuroma on the sciatic from a boisterous liposarcoma JB> removal JB> '91. Sounds scary! Like a surgeon got a little more enthusiastic than he was supposed to? JB> If you can tell the difference between a N and S Currie, you're MILES JB> ahead No, I can't -- just know mine's a North Indian Curry, because my homemaker is from the north and taught me her family recipe! *G* JB> from me. I almost booked a subsidized cleaner (I'd have to find my JB> floor before JB> they'd return. Long story!) and was close to calling Meal on Wheels. Juts close to? What made you decide NOT to call Meals on Wheels? I wouldn'tmind an occasional meal cooked for me, but the $$ is daunting! So I go out to restaurants once or twice c. each months' end payday. JB> Usually, JB> like another just mentioned to me on another echo, "If it doesn't fit JB> in a JB> pressure cooker or cast iron frypan..." But, I don't own a pressure JB> cooker. Me neither; bought a slow-cooker(crock pot) but it's defective, it seems, which is too bad, I was looking forward to some simple meals that didn't require my constant on-going attention in the kitchen! (ADHD is a problem here!) JB> GP> I volunteer once a week at the Neil Squire Society (formerly JB> GP> "Neil Squire Foundation") JB> GP> Check them out at http://www.neilsquire.ca JB> JB> No I-net. Could you summarize? Sure, it's a society that provides training/job search services/support for disabled adults. The main programs are: Computer Comfort -- where I volunteer, teaching basic computer (internet, M$ Office) skills. A-Tec -- Adaptive Technology: sometimes partnered with BCIT, provides technological adaptations for those with specialized needs. (eg. interfaces, input devices) EASE -- forget what it stands for, but it's a full service pre-employment program that helps one get confident & ready to go out and hunt! EPPD (Job Focus) -- one-on-one with an "employment specialist" to identify and achieve education/employment goals. -- I'm currently in this one, just took a very extensive vocational-psych testing (2 days) which I hope will support my plans(or provide me clear evidence how & why I might need to alter them somewhat.) Hope this helps. JB> Do tell! My disability is pain related, and as such, I tend to flare JB> up once JB> I'm on my feet for any length of time. Just yesterday, a financial JB> planner JB> suggested twice I *could* work. Well, if I could fall asleep at the JB> drop of a JB> hat, and took three days to recover... If they would tolerate constant JB> grunts JB> and occasional sporadic shouts... Ya, I guess I could. There ya go! Thimk positive! *G* Pain is a bad one -- not much help available for it, I guess the assumption is that one is shirking just to try for heavy-duty pharmaceutical narcotics! :( JB> I guess I look at my situation like this, I spent six years in a JB> narcotic fog, JB> and created such a mess in my house that I will likely take six time JB> that JB> amount to dig out from that. /-: This is a clear hint as to the "long story" about your missing floor? JB> GP> So, write back, and tell about YOU! :) JB> JB> Do you *really* want to know? Go for it! Your friend, <+]::-{)} (Cyberpope(the Bishop of ROM!))
