Yep ...... been there - done that . I finally found a reliable
farrier a couple of years ago. I'd gone through about a half dozen .....
either they didn't come when they said they would ...... OR, they wouldn't
come after I'd called them about a problem .... OR, they didn't do what I'd
asked them to do ..... one of them damn near lamed my FAVORITE horse "Baby"
...... then I found this guy I use now. He lives almost 2 hours away from us
.... BUT, he's here like clock work every 6 weeks ..... he does GOOD work and
when I told him about Mr X slipping and sliding on the pavement he made Mr
X's shoes with little "knobbies" (like golf shoes or football players shoes)
out of boriam (sp) so he wouldn't slid when pulling the carriage. I was
impressed that he knew exactly what to do in any situation that I've had so
far.
Keep looking for a good farrier .... you may have to pay a little more
for him but it's worth it in the long run. My farrier charges $20 for a trim
(other's around here charge from $12 to $15) ..... he charges me $90 for Mr
X's shoes (all the way around) ...... BUT, I know he's good and he's going to
do a good job and that's what counts!!!
