Replying to a message of Shawn Highfield to Bj”rn Forsstr”m: BF>> But being an electrician isn't that easy, at least not here. We have BF>> to have a certain qualification for that and that isn't that easy to BF>> get. SH> Nothing worth doing is easy. It's one of the trades I'm interested SH> in. I don't find wiring plugs and switches particularly difficult. I did study the subject a couple of decades ago, the other stuff can get pretty 'hairy.' I've found that while I *can* do it (and have done it) I'm not comfortable working in hot panels and it's easier on my nerves to hire someone else to do it. SH>>> Yep. Today was only 10 hours as I left early. I owed the company SH>>> $75 on my way out. Like to see them collect as my hack driving SH>>> days are over. BF>> Sorry but I don't understand this. SH> You have to "rent" your car every day for $100, then you have to SH> wash it every day for $7.50, and Gas every day is around $30. So SH> just to break even I have to bring in $137.50. Last night I didn't SH> come close, so I lost $75 for the night. Aha! The old 'independent contractor' dodge. You don't *work* for the cab company (and thus they don't have to pay unemployment, workmen's comp, etc., or have anything to do with the tax people - or, FTM, a salary, benefits, etc.), you *rent* their cab. A lot of other businesses are using that business model. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:2905/3) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 2905/3 14/5 153/757 106/1 2000 633/267 |
