I've been out to LA a couple of times and that place is a mecca as well. 
The US planners of the 1800s and before had the right idea but then we got
'smart.'

  Man, I gotta remember that one!  Hell, he'd probably take
too it if saved him a dime.

I remember seeing a former mayor visit a developer's office some years
ago...a coworker mentioned that the mayor 'left with his campaign
contribution and a bad taste in his mouth.'
