Absolutely.
 
One time my grandmother gave me a gold Pound-coin. It's worth way more than CAD$250.
 
Years ago we traded in gold Rands. They went for about 1.000 Euro a piece,
and these had no collectible value such as the CAD$100 special for the 1976
Olympics of which only a relative handful were made.
