    Excuse my ignorance, but why ?  The reason I ask is because
    I have a large Mystery Snail in a tank with a few Guppies, 
    Flying Fox, 3 Cardinal Tetras and a couple of Pencil Fish.
    The tank has approx. half a dozen different Aquatic plants
    and seems to be doing quite well (about 6 months).
