RD> I have two sets of install disks here, just nothing to load them in
RD> for the moment as my systems are used for studying for my exams.
Great.. When you're ready for install time, send me a netmail, or an e-mail
(mstrates@croftj.net) and I'll give you a hand. I've installed Linux on
100's of machines.
What distribution are you going to use? I'd recommend Debian, and if your
thinking of Slackware .. forget it. Even RedHat isn't very Ham friendly.
RD> Sounds like my trapped dipole turning into a -scrapped- dipole!
.. It's amazing what a few G's of force can do to your newly built
antenna, or your freshly painted tower (eek) :-)
RD> Lucky for me the dog keeps people out of the yard.
Or the dog could drive them up the tower :-) Our dog, unfortunately,
just sits there and looks vicious.
RD> But the tower is guarded against climbing with a tower guard wrapped
RD> around it up to 15 feet off the ground and locked to it.
Good idea. I'm going to probably buy some wire mesh and do the same thing,
when I re-erect the damn thing into the air.
RD> Probably put a new dent on their outlook.
That'll teach them to climb a 45ft tower, eh? :-)
btw: I went to a Tower place to find my perfect tower, and I spotted one
very cool ham tower. Equipped with an electric lift, super-thick guy
wires, et al.. 45ft high, and you can stop the lift on any level.
Nice, but the price of $10,000 turned me right off it.
73's de Michael.
... There's veal, there's pork, there's Turkey. But nuthin' beats HAM.
