II> I have a couple neighbors I'd like to feed his TV direct from the coax
II> from my transmitter! They are complaining to the landlord about TVI
II> on Channel 18 on the cable! It just so happens that 2 Meters, (my
II> most-used band, where I'm licensed for ONE THOUSAND WATTS but only run
II> about 8-10 watts!), is right smack in the middle of the band where the
Stupid morons. Pitty you don't own your house! I am living in a rented
house, and am worried about putting up a tower, because my lease says:
"You must not affix any sign or antenna to the premisis"
So, I'm going to have to ask the landlord very nicely, "may I please
erect a 50ft pole in your backyard??" :-)
II> EL-CHEAPO $500-$700 TV is the problem??? Meanwhile the landlord is
II> threatening to throw me out on my ear, BBS, radios and all!!!
Time to get your revolver out perhaps, and do some target shooting with
neigbours cable TV's! :-) Or, alternatively, you could shoot the neighbours
while you're there.
II> I would, (on my VERY limited income!), BUY them a cut-channel antenna
II> for Ch 18, a booster if necessary, get it installed on the roof and run
II> twinlead to all units in the building if it would SHUT THEM UP! But
II> then they would have the GREAT INCONVIENCE of switching their fancy
II> plastic- cabinet, UNSHIELDED cable-ready TVs from cable to antenna
II> every time they wanted to watch Ch 18! AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
What is Channel 18.. Me thinks Its' HVO, Showtime or some stupid channel
that doesn't even need to be watched (perhaps National Geographic! :-)
These rich stuck-ups get me annoyed. We have one nextdoor to us, and they
can't "bear" the look of another yagi on our roof. "Iwe jast dunt unter
stand whie u dont yuse indoors. wey ware f***ing eyesores".
II> RIGHT! But it's cheaper for the cheapskate manufacturers to NOT spend
II> a few cents adding shielding and a high-pass filter to their JUNK for
II> the 1% that will NEED it, and let the Hams & CBers fight it out with
II> the buyers and the TV shops! Then you have the Jap-made sets, (about
Agreed. It seems that a bit of metal inside of the case costs a dollar more
to manufacture. I wouldn't mind paying one extra dollar for something that
can withstand local RFI.
II> Satellite? ;-}
I'm working on a project on how to transmit voice over a 9600bps FDX link.
Its /very/ crude, uses GSM, but it works, and it might just be the way to
get those overseas QSLs, without breaching your maximum number of repeater
laws.
II> ... BEEP BEEP BEEP (The sound of Sputnik passing overhead.)
Spoutnik! :-) What a waste of money, eh.. They could of at least put a
repeater on there.
73's de Michael.
... Ham towers are marvels, until they fall down.. oopsss**crash**
