Well, the clue was given on the opening show for the season
on Sportschannel. A caller asked ML why the Celtics didn't
go after the free agents that were out there. His response
was one dealing with finance, like, gee, some of these teams
gave out contracts worth more than the franchise! Reading
his answers between the lines - they look to be tanking it
for the lottery.
Since we started this dialogue, Don Nelson has since cleaned
house and is restarting (essentially) from scratch down in
Dallas. This looms big for the Celtics, who own the Dallas
draft pick. Only hope that the Celtics draw number 1 in the
Tim Duncan lottery -- and hope that Philadelphia DOESN'T get
the number 1 (Duncan-Stackhouse-Iverson -- uh oh, look out!)
