AQ> AC>am a writer and would dearly love to write a story about the
AQ> Aborigines AC>(sp) I have always been fascinated with them and their
AQ> culture. The
AQ>In my experience, the people who have got closely involved with
AQ>them, and/or learned and studied their culture, usually have a very
AQ>high regard for them.
I think that the reason for that is that they are so different. I have
been told that there's isn't very many "True Bloods" left.
AQ>People who live near them, and don't bother to try understand them, too
AQ>often resent them, particularly those that are having trouble fitting
AQ>in.
I don't know why people are that way, but if they don't understand, they
don't deal with different very well.
AQ>The aborigines have some very good spokesmen coming through their ranks,
AQ>and one of them lady, Lois O'Donahue, was even touted as a
AQ>possible Governor General (officially the representative of the Queen
AQ>of England/Australia, but chosen by the government and recommended to
AQ>the Queen to accept). She did not get that position, went to a well
AQ>regarded High Court Judge. There will be a big vote in 2001 on
AQ>whether or not we will become a republic. It is expected that we will.
Do you know some of their original family names? There are so many
things about their culture that I would love to know about. By the way,
what do you do, and tell me a little more about yourself?
