God bless you, Adrien!

At least if you get as many chess echos as I do :-) CHESS and
CHESS_TOURNEY from zone 1, SCHACH.GER in zone 2, CHS.HUMAN and CHS.LIGA2 in
the Chessnet, and quite a few local chess echos. And of course I play many
games via Netmail.

Be careful :-) The literal German translation of "Bonjour" is
"Guten Tag", but if you say this here you will most probably get
killed. It is completely Prussian and may not be used here in Bavaria
:->

The problem with Bruce seems to be solved now, as you answered a rather new
letter of him on the 17th, while writing to me on the 16th?
James Mccullough - wasn't he the guy who said he had only one chessboard
and therefore could play only one game?
And Dave Raymond - I tried to start a game with him too, but he seems to
have left the conference immediately.

Think there are no technical problems at the time. Wait and see :-)

I see. We don't have percentual averages here, but mark/points averages.
Last year (in grade 11) I had an average of 1.6 (we have marks from 1 to 6
with 1 the better one), which put me on place 2 of the about 90 pupils. In
grade 12 and 13 the marks system is completely different. We get points
from 0 to 15 (with 15 being best). I did very bad this year (spent too much
time playing chess :->>) and had an average of 11,3 points in 12/1
and won't be much better in 12/2.

 AR> What's jurisprudence?
The knowing of laws (if you know Latin you know every word :-))

SW>> BTW, I have played against GM Adorjan in a simultaneous
SW>> game once. It didn't take very long...
AR> Good luck in the tournament! What was the simultaneous exhibit like?
It was a long time ago, about five years, I guess. But if I remember right,
there were about 60 players, and Adorjan lost three games and drawed 5 or
6.
And Adorjan is not only the ex-second of Karpov (or was it Kasparov? Don't
know now, at least it was in a world-championship's match between both of
them), but he is also the son of a cousin of a player of our club.

 AR> I'm still a low ranked player, but I still don't understand how GM's
AR> can beat us mere mortals so quickly. You'd figure that without
AR> hanging pieces that one could at least make it through the opening,
Opening is the biggest problem... If he does not play the Giuoco Piano or
one of the gambits I know by chance, I have no real chance to get to the
middlegame :-(
I play correspondence chess mostly to improve my opening knowledge.

BTW: Saw a message of you asking for a good international chat echo. I can
recommend ESPRIT. English, German, Dutch and a couple of other languages
are allowed there. I don't know if French is actually allowed, but it will
be if someone agrees to work as a Co-Mod for that language.
