-> Do you think the kind of Dove makes a difference in tameness? I was
-> looking at some little hand-fed Diamond Doves.
I'm not sure, but I think that since they've been raised for MANY
generations in captivity they probably are. I just can't see wild doves
letting you pick them up like a baseball.
-> some local Dove breeder that sells bunches of Doves to people to
-> release into the air at weddings and other events. I cannot
-> understand how this can be legal. I get a little sick every time I
-> think of it. Do you think they can survive after that? I sure hope
-> so.
Our local Mexican population does a certain amount of that too. After
being pen raised I don't think they're particularly well suited to life
in the wild, but I see them mixed in with other flocks of doves and
pigeons in fair numbers. They seem to be surviving, and are sometimes
caught out of the wild because of their tameness around people.
Amazons certainly thrive in the wild in our semi-tropical environment.
Escaped birds of several species live and squawk together in a flock
near a park in McAllen, Tx. There's also a large flock of Conures (I'd
say over fifty) living near downtown. Little boys with BB guns are, I'm
afraid, their worst natural enemy.
-> That's too bad...humans are the most ego-centric, self-centered
-> parasites on Mother Earth. Humans do not know how to live in peace,
-> harmony, and balance.
Unfortunately you are too right......
-> I just hope they wake-up before it's too late.
Maybe someday. Unfortunately we're not very close it would appear.
