Hi Bob (4) -> If it's a startup who will only have a marketplace in the small farming -> communities surrounding your town, then I don't see as how he could -> afford to pay much in the way of a high price. If you want the work -> more for where it may lead than for the actual profit generated right -> now, then have an honest discussion with the person about what is -> involved in time and materials. I'm not sure how all this turned into a money discussion, but this apparently is some sort of "startup" as you suggest. However, it's not around here but in the States. If I do come up with a dollar amount, (and I'm certainly not at that point in the considerations yet) it would be what I'd be happy with in Canadian dollars, but I wouldn't say that, and I'd be even happier if he took it to mean American dollars. But all this is putting the cart before the horse as I still don't know what he has in mind. -> KW> Oh hey, now you have me thinking of another project. I have a friend -> KW> who has just recently purchased a resort. He is thinking of making up -> KW> a new brochure. Maybe I could get in on that too. I do know more -> KW> about producing brochures than he does (having done that for the karate -> KW> club). I took a couple of pictures at the property recently, and gave -> KW> him a couple of digital prints. He was impressed and wanted to know -> KW> what kind of camera he would need to get pictures like that (for -> KW> those who can't see that....I'm grinning). -> -> That's another project and the sort of thing I was thinking of in my -> reply above. You should sit down and discuss the project on a time -> and material basis. First talk with your printer to find your material -> cost for hundreds/thousands/ten thousands of prints so you are armed -> with the your cost information you'll need when you approach the -> fellow. I don't need to do that. I would only be producing the master. He could print as many as he wants over any time period he chose. He could print a hundred now, and ten million over the course of time...who knows. I created a brochure for my own business years ago, and just printed more as needed. I would keep the file here, so if he needed to make changes as to pricing or pictures, etc, I could adjust things for him as needed....at an additional fee, of course. This is not a big money service. But it sure would get me a welcome at the resort anytime I wanted....not that I don't have that now. Don't forget to include the cost and time for the chauffeur. Oh hey, thanks :) It's a couple of hours from here, so gas and milage would be a factor. Not that I'm the one that pays for that stuff though, eh -> -> As one who has expressed an -> apprehension about sticking a camera in someone's face, or doesn't want -> to draw attention to themselves by having others see you are taking -> pictures of them, I think you might have a few personal hurdles to jump -> here too Karen. I'm not sure where you get that Bob. There is nothing I've ever enjoyed as much as taking pictures of people for the newspapers. People love to cooperate with the photographers. They happily gave me their names and even spelled them for me. It's the street photography thing I don't get. I mean, if I do that, then need a model's release to use it, I doubt I'd be greated as nicely as if I worked for the paper. That's been my experience, anyway.
