Miscellaneous questions:
The following are some questions I have that nobody seems to be able
to answer for whatever reason. I thought I'd ask yet another time as
maybe I'll get a response.
(1) Why do mains transmission lines ("power lines") transmit
alternating current more efficiently (with much less loss)
than direct current? [which is one of the two reasons why
we use A.C. for mains power..]
I can only conjecture that maybe the capacitance present in
all conductors attenuates DC moreso than AC because the
alternatic cycles and phases of AC counteracts the rectification
caused by capacitance in the line.... or something to that affect..
(2) Why do high frequency RF signals attenuate more rapidly than low
frequency RF signals. Wheras, for every doubling of frequency
in MHz or kHz, the attenuation is 6dB greater as given by the
free space formula: FSL = 20 Log 4 Pi Distance / Wavelength.
