subject: Delphi to write Emualtor

Hello All,
I have a question about Delphi's Suitability to write a computer
emuator.
I don't know if I will ever tackle this project or not, but it is
something of interest and wanted to get some feedback.
There have been several emulator programs written that allow the PC to
run old computer software (i.e. Apple, TRS-80, C64, etc.) I started on
the old Tandy Color Computer.
Emulators must be very effiecient and tend to take alot of power to
emulate a system at it's original speed since the software must emulate
the original processor, the system hardware and be capable of running
the system ROM and OS on this emulated system. I know that some of the
good emulators are written in Assembler. Also, alot of these are DOS
based.
Any idea if Delphi 3 would be up to the task (I tend to think it would)?
I was thinking that using Delphi 3 and DirectX would allow some nice
windows based emulators to be written.
Anyone knowledgable of emulator design or DirectX have comments on this?
I think it would quite a learning exercise to write an emulator.
Steve
