Replacing the hard drive is just like trying to connect to the company
network with a laptop that was NOT installed by the company.

It's not the fact that the laptop hardware/BIOS are "approved" by
the company that makes it trusted. It's the fact that the OS (future
version of Windows) can be reasonably sure that nothing unapproved has been
run since the last boot, and the company network access server can be
reasonably sure that the OS can be trusted (because stuff is signed).
