subject: Absolute freedom...

SK> You see, _I_ believe in absolute free speech...and that must be
 SK> stopped, it seems.

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely" doesn't it?

I was observing the results of the "No Frames law" on Texas license
  plates, passed recently.

Some folks protested this law as a violation of 'freedom of
  expression."

Perhaps it is yet the frames proved to make the numbers harder to
read. I've noticed this. Without the frames the numbers do stand out
more. The frames defeated the purpose of having the numbers there in
  the first place.

Some laws, even those which may infringe our our freedom a bit,
have to be made to protect us from infringement by others upon far more
important rights. Remember this the next time you need to 'get the
license number on the car that just side swipe you (causing
hundreds of dollar of damage you don't want to have to pay for.)
