Hello Allan,
-> Why do you ask about post encephalitis syndrome? My interest is that
I asked because it seemed like there might be a possibility for such a
thing. I think I read that encephalitis patients may develop
Parkinson's disease in later life. So I wondered if there might be
other things that happen to a post-encephalitic patient.
I had two spinal taps in which they ruled out polio.....but this was in
1950.....my insurance company disputed the whole matter saying that my
diagnosis was questionable. I was 19 years old when I got sick. The
doctors really didn't know what treatment would really help.
Afterwards, I was left with a partially paralyzed face and throat and
the paralysis of the throat is still with me.
-> ex probably had encephalitis about 23 yrs ago. i think that it may
-> have changed her personality subtly. I think that this contributed
Your comment about personality change is curious, as the doctors told my
husband that I might have a personality change when I hit 30 years old.
How they could determine that, I don't know. If I did have any
personality change, I'm not aware of it. However, I did divorce my
husband when I was 32....which I should have done much sooner! (somewhat
of a grin there).
Back to your question as to my posting. I have other medical problems
now and while some of my condition may be attributed to current medical
problems, some things I find similar to what has been described as
post-polio syndrome. Therefore I was wondering if there could be a
post-encephalitic syndrome.
