JANE KELLEY was thinking about Ultimate Jane-ism! and keyed into
cyberspace:
JK>I got a private note from an eminent person who lurks here telling me
JK>that he will not get into a personal discussion with you (or anyone
JK>else) where he will get into the likes of your notes to me. It goes
JK>into detail about dietary barriers invloved in the prevention and
JK>treatment of obesity in Down Syndrome.
There is no question that weight control is important for everyone, and
especially for many children with Down Syndrome. However, we have never
discussed that. Your messages have all implied that diet, etc. can
prevent Down Syndrome, or several of the major complications. Diet
cannot do this.
However, weight control is very important because many of the Down
Syndrome children have significant abnormalities of the heart. A close
friend of mine is a pediatric cardiologist and I have seen him moved to
tears too many times over a DS child who has serious heart problems.
***You never wrote about it in this manner.***
As for your friend, perhaps he just wants to deal with someone who is
not too well informed.
