Son of golfer Rudolph dies in N. Carolina copter crash
NASHVILLE - Craig Rudolph, son of former professional golfer
Mason Rudolph, was among five people killed in a helicopter crash
in North Carolina. Rudolph is director of golf at Vanderbilt
University.
Craig Rudolph, 33, moved to North Carolina four years ago to
become dub professional at Quail Hollow golf course in Charlotte.
He left there two years ago to become golf pro at BaIlantyne
Country Club, also in Charlotte.
The youngest of three brothers, he played colligate golf at
Alabama and Austin-Peay where he was named Ohio Valley Conference
Player of the Year in 1988. He got his PGA Tour card in 1991 and
spent one year as a playing professional.
Rudolph and his wife, Kim, celebrated their fifth wedding
anniversary on Saturday. They had twin boys, Goodman and Mason,
who are 4 months old.
Rudolph, three other passengers and the pilot of the six-seat
Bell 206-B3 died in the crash early Monday about three miles from
Monroe Airport. They were returning from the Coca-Cola 600 Winston
Cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Pilot of ultralight OK after crashing in cow pasture
LEXINGTON, TN - A 70 year-old Lexington man who crashed his
ultralight plane in a cow pasture suffered only minor injuries and
walked away from the accident.
Bill Meals' plane crashed about 4 pm. Monday just east of
Lexington, Henderson County Emergency Management Director Lynn
Murphy said. Meals, who told people at the scene his legs were
hurting, was treated at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
